The Third XI did not have a productive day at Caterham and lost by 9 wickets. The 3’s had their first league game of the season on Saturday, at home, Knaphill, verses Kingstonian’s. On paper it looked a game of men against boys (and girl!) as the Kingstonian’s turned up with eleven adult players and Chobham fielded a side that contained seven players under the age of sixteen. But the game was played on grass not paper!Having lost the toss, Chobham were put into bat and lost their first wicket, Zak Cheesman (batted well) with the score on 34. Neil Tolefree and Dave Pearce put together a useful stand before Neil went for 32. Dave Pearce was 62 not out when Chobham’s last wicket fell with the score on 168.Kerr Franklin and Alex Seers opened the bowling, and with Zak and Neil supporting, Kingstonians were struggling at 76 for 7. An eighth wicket stand of 62 put Kingstonian’s back in the game, but some sharp(?) fielding saw the opposition losing their eighth wicket and two overs later Chobham had wrapped it up and had won by 18 runs. Bowling highlights were Neil with four wickets and Kerr and Alex with two each. Fielding highlights were two sharp catches by Haig and Charlotte’s ground fielding.A superb win against a team that will win many matches during the season. Well done everyone who played. The Season So Far U10 - Have had a great start to the season when beating Guildford in a tight affair at Guildford, They restricted Guildford to 68 Runs in 20 Overs, then we knocked them off losing 5 Wickets. U11 - Did not fair so well against Guildford when they were beaten by 70 runs on the plastic pitch at a busy Woodbridge Road on Sunday. U12 - Performed heroics against Valley End on their new ground to win by 6 runs in a tense battle, a positive start for the U12's U13 - Have already played 2 games - Losing to Normandy in the ECB cup by 50 runs, Normandy were very strong and overpowered our team but we stuck to our task well and performed well for the opening game. The U13 bounced staright back to beat Windsor by 6 Wickets at a very cold Windsor Castle on a Friday Evening, The whole team batted and bowled with a lot more focus and were always in charge in this game, another great result. All other teams are yet to play. |
